n. a numerical expression containing one or more irrational roots of numbers, such as 2√√3, or 3√5 + 4√3. The conjugate surd of the latter is 3√5 - 4√3. It is an entire surd if it has no rational factors or terms and a mixed surd otherwise; it is a pure surd if every term is an entire or mixed surd.
