n. 1. a set of points endowed with a structure that is usually defined by specifying a set of axioms to be satisfied by the points. See Banach space, Euclidean space, Hilbert space, metric space, N-space, normed space, topological space, vector space. See also structure (sense 2). 2. (Mechanics) a primitive concept that in Newtonian mechanics is assumed to be a Euclidean space with a set of Cartesian coordinates with fixed axes, distance measured in meters, and angles measured in radians.
