n. a ring in which every non-zero element, a, has an inverse a^-1, such that
aa^-1 = e = a^-1a
where e is the (multiplicative) identity element. A commutative division ring is a field; the division ring H of quaternions is a non-commutative division ring. Compare quotient ring.
