Portrait 4 Graphing & Calculating
The new name for MathResources’ MRI Graphing Calculator Software
MathResources announced today that it has changed the name of MRI Graphing Calculator, its well-known graphing and calculating software, to Portrait 4 Graphing & Calculating. In addition, their new slogan, “The New Face of Mathematics”, better represents the evolving nature of MathResources, its products and their markets. “The slogan is a clear reflection of our company’s commitment to the graphical nature of mathematics,” said Ron Fitzgerald, the President of MathResources.
MathResources will be officially launching Portrait 4 Graphing & Calculating at NECC 2005 in Philadelphia. Visitors are invited to evaluate this latest offering from MathResources at either:
The Windows Mobile Solution Center (Booth # 826)
Hewlett Packard (Booth # 1123)
or at Fourier Systems (Booth # 9903).
Visitors to any of these booths may see Portrait 4 in action and find out how to download a free trial copy.
“Portrait 4 is a piece of software. The colorful, menus-driven interface it offers for graphing and calculating comes straight out of the world of Windows-based computing,” says Ken Nauss, Director of Business Development for MathResources. “About the only thing you can say it has in common with traditional graphing calculators is the fact that you use it to graph and calculate. That is why we needed to change the name” he adds.
Nauss explains that the original name, MRI Graphing Calculator, was creating the false impression that all MathResources had to offer was another graphing calculator or a piece of software that emulated one on your computer. “Our name simply did not reflect the exciting approach to graphing and calculating that we provide,” Nauss says. “Our software has a very short minute learning curve, generates rich colorful graphs, works in concert with Excel and Word and runs on PCs, Macs, Pocket PCs and the Web.” He describes the new name and tag line as a “bold but accurate statement” that MathResources has truly taken the traditional graphing calculators low-rez, gray-scale, button-punching approach to graphing and calculating and given it a complete face-lift.
Besides capturing the intensely visual nature of its powerful software, MathResources also wanted a name reflecting the fact that the latest version contains four complete calculators in one: graphing, scientific, financial and statistical. Middle school students, high school students, and college student taking introductory math, science, business or engineering courses, can all depend upon Portrait 4 providing the graphing and calculating power they need.
