Read ISM Author Oscar Chavez’s New Article in the November Issue of
NCTM’s Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School

Halifax, Nova Scotia -- September 30th, 2005 -- We are pleased to announce that Oscar Chavez, one of the authors for Interactive School Mathematics (ISM), has published an excellent new article in the November issue of NCTM’s Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School.

The article entitled “Spatial Visualization: What Happens When You Turn It?” presents different strategies for helping students visualize and solve problems about volume that involve prisms.

Oscar’s co-authors for the article were Robert Reys from the University of Missouri-Columbia and Dusty Jones from Central Missouri State University.

Oscar is a Show-Me Post Doctoral Fellow in the College of Education’s Department of Learning, Teaching and Curriculum at the University of Missouri, Columbia. He teaches mathematics methods courses and is currently doing research on middle school mathematics.
