April 18th, 2006
Bill Masalski, the Editor of the NCTM 2005 Yearbook Technology-Supported Mathematics Learning Environments, and Carey Bolster, who will receive NCTM’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Service to Mathematics Education next week at NCTM’s annual meeting in St. Louis, are working with MathResources to develop a computer-based middle school math curriculum called Interactive School Mathematics (ISM).
Technology presents tremendous opportunities for teaching and delivering mathematics but to unlock this potential school districts need interactive content that is credible, standards-based, and requires a minimal amount of professional development. ISM has been specifically designed to fulfill these needs.
Because Bill, ISM’s General Editor, and Carey, the original architect of the ISM program, are highly regarded within the NCTM and NCSM communities they have attracted a talented and experienced team of authors to make ISM’s exciting new approach to teaching and learning mathematics a reality.
A subset of members of the ISM team include Patrick Vennebush, Program Manager for NCTM’s Illuminations web site, Anne Collins, former Massachusetts Statewide Mathematics Coordinator Linda Gojak, President of NCSM, Kay Gilliland, Past President of NCSM, Terri Belcher, Executive Director of NCSM, and David DeCoste who currently serves on NCTM’s Board of Directors.
